Titans Wednesday mission.
Wednesday

We started our wednesday off by having a talk by professor Graham Ault on the Gambia project. Professor Ault spoke  to everyone about how the project helps and impacts people lives in Gambia and what it involves. It showed us what amazing chances we could have in University to get involved in life changing projects like this one.

For the rest of the morning we worked again on our big project. At the begining our project did not look very promising but by the end, the whole team had worked extremely hard and brought everything together to create an excellent and impressive project.

After lunch we had our daily briefing as we hadn't had time to have it in the morning becuase of Proffessor Ault's talk. We were quickly informed of what we were doing for the rest of the afternoon and what tonights events were. Once the daily briefing was finshed we went along to the labs to have a look at the bacteria which had been growing on our agar plates since monday. We were amazed to see how some members of the team were covered in micro organised whereas others were pretty clean. To look at the micro organisms in detail we extracted a colony of them and stained them on a microscope slide so they were easier to see. Everybody in our group were very successful in seeing the mirco organisms living on there body and interested in what they found.

We then continued our big project and finished off our pitch so our project was finished.

After a nice dinner we had an inspiring talk by Heather Paul and Nick Patrick. Heather spoke to us about the design of the space suit and the functions of each part and also how each part is vital and how it's been changed to suit defferent cirrcumstances. Nick on the other hand spoke to us about life in space and told us about some of his most exciting and nerve-racking expereinces. Then we walked along to the student union to hear and see some of the amazing talents students in the sapce school have.

Overall the day has been really excelent and we all can't beleive we only have another day and a half left :(

Team Titan Clashes into Tuesday
A bright and early start on an unusually warm and sunny day in Glasgow brought us into our daily breifing. After which the team proceeded to the 'heart of the matter' workshop, where we were askeed to assemble a circuit which could tell us the Bpm (beats per minuite) of our heart. Many found this to be quite a step up in expectations, as for many it was our first time working with 'breadboard' circuitboards, and found we had to combine circuits at the heighth of higher complexity.

I was personally fairly keen along with the team to get a kick-start on our team project in our spare time (which i should mention is to design and conseptualise a pop up stand which informs others about engineering at strathclyde university at a careers fair).

After a plentiful lunch, we commernced an aftenoon of interesting and informative talks, on subjects such as space exploration and mission planning and also microbiology. I personnally felt i learned alot, but found myself almost collapsing as i stumbled out of the sauna heat to try and find freh-air.

In the evening all the teams proceeded to the student union for a presentation from a man only known as 'Roboprof'. There was all sorts of rumors around who he was; 'Is he some educational form of robocop?'.  'i heard he has several micro-chips in his arm and talks with the internet' and 'I heard he smashes through the floor of the stage instead of using a door!?'. The talk was thouroughly enjoyable, and many of the teams had several questions to ask, as the professor revealed more about himself.
The professor was sourounded by a crowd of students content to listen to his robotical jargon. All of the other students played in a pool tournament, for which at the end of the night i was pleased to watch the final game, consisting of a team including one of Titans team members (rachael) and also a flatmate of mine. Our team won of course using the utmost precision in their shots.

the day had come to an end but not without a loss; one of our team members, Kate Scally, left the course to return home. With heavy hearts we accepted our loss as a team, and pushed on with the task at hand. I am sorry that Kate can't join our team in it's rise to the top, and think she will be missed by all.

Signing off from the group, Brendan.

Redo of first day Blog (sorry)
In our group there is Katie, Kate, Andrew, Adam, Rachael, Cameron, Brendon, Euan, lauren, Christopher and WE ARE TITAN !!!!! :)

SUNDAY
We just met our flat mates, there are 6 people in each flat, boys and girls are sepperate, then we attended the welcome meeting , dinner, surprisingly good, and then ther was the quiz night.

TITAN was DEAD LAST half way through but we pulled it back and ended second last thanks to our movie and tv music knowledge YEAH ^_^.

They then held open Mic night which was the auditions for the talent show on thursday , no one in our group entered cause we are tallentless :(.

After that we were allowed to explore the campus and chill out until 10:30 when we had to be in our flats, lights out was at 11ish

MONDAY

We had our daily briefing then had a talk by A dean of engineering on space travel and the rockets we use today and the possible use of solar sails and single stage rockets.

Lunch was again better than expected, desert was also available @(^_^)@mmmmmmmmmmmm.

We were than taken to a biology lab where we donned lab coats and entered the world of bacteria and fungi. we tested the usefulness of toilet paper , protecting our fingers from germs, and then we swabbed a part of our body and put the swab onto two different agar plates to see what will grow, no one is looking forward to seeing what will grow.

The rocket came next, deffinitely the high light of the day, we were given the task of building and desinging a rocket , ours was clearly the best, we were allowed to decorate the rocket in any way we wanted so our team decided on the name titan down the side with a fist holding a lightning bolt and fire streaking from the cone.

once the rocket was completed we traveled to loch Lomond to launch them , ours reached a glorious height of 275 feet and didn't explode :L unlike a certain group , we are not sure how close we came to the target but it was pretty close.

we were supposed to have a BBQ dinner but alas we had to settle for normaly cooked food, which while being good was a bit of a letdown because it wasn;t a BBQ.

This has been our time so far and i encourage anyone who reads this to come to space schools it is the experience of a life time.

TITAN ROCKET
we made a rocket and tonight we are going to launch it at loch lomond , we also hadf a quick biology lesson and swabbed ourselves to see wat be groing on us
