Hello and welcome to the Scottish Space School site.

The Scottish Space School is an exciting initiative supported by the international space community to inspire and motivate young people to study science and engineering and consider careers in these areas. 

Following a rigorous and highly competitive selection process 100 S5 pupils from high schools across Scotland have now been offered a place at the 5-day residential summer school at the University of Strathclyde, hosted by the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, from 14-19th June.

For the best performing students at summer school there will be the added incentive of a 10-day study visit to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas in November 2009.

The information session  on Thursday 7th May 2009 at Strathclyde was so well attended by pupils and parents that two lecture theatres had to be used.  The presence of NASA astronaut Bill McArthur who had received an honorary degree from the University the day before had obviously had a signifcant impact on the turnout and his inspirational talk was very well received.

There is also a Scottish Space School programme at the University of St Andrews, specifically for P 6 pupils attending primary school in Fife.  For further information please contact:
